In welcoming you and your children to fifth grade and to our classroom, let me first share with you a little about myself.  I was born and raised in up-state New York where most of my family still resides. I attended The State University of New York at New Paltz, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  I completed my master’s degree in 2006 at The University of Phoenix in Curriculum Instruction and Design.  I taught for three years in New York and then moved to beautiful Mount Pleasant. I taught at Pinckney  for the past 11 year; I am very excited to be a part of the NCCAE family,  we are a loving, warm and energetic team.

My husband, Ben, daughter Ashley, son Jordan and our two dogs, reside in North Charleston along with many other families.  Together we enjoy boating, swimming, riding bikes, and shopping! Ashley (senior at Clemson) is about to get married in February, and Jordan (freshman at Trident) is going to school for electrical engineering!

It is my intention to use my excitement for teaching to instill a deep love for learning in your child.  This year is a year in which you will see tremendous growth academically.  The curriculum is challenging and intense.  It is my goal to help make the learning process motivating through fun hands-on opportunities. Students will be expected to remain focused and on task because of the intensity of the curriculum that we must complete.  Clear expectations will be established and maintained beginning day one.  I firmly believe in open communications with students and parents.  Our classroom motto this year will be “Excellence is the Standard, Victory is in the Classroom!” Together all of us (parent, student and teacher) will make this year a positive learning experience.  Please feel free to share with me, any pertinent information about your child that you think might influence his/her learning.  This year is going to be the best year ever!
