Ms. Smith

Hi, my name is Carol Smith and I am proud to be the teacher librarian (media specialist) here at North Charleston Creative Arts Elementary School.  It is a pleasure to help teach our students the love and excitement of reading.  It is also important for our students to begin learning the 21st Century Learning skills necessary to find information that they need and to effectively communicate it to others.  It is my goal to make our library media center the gateway for these activities as well as a safe, friendly, and comfortable place to snuggle up and get lost in a good book.

Before coming to Charleston 11 years ago I lived in Paducah, Kentucky, where I was born and raised.  I earned my Library Science degree from Murray State University and my Masters in Education (speciality in literacy) from Walden University in Minnesota.  I have 2 sons, both grown and one married.  In my spare time I love to read, sew (yay, quilts!), visit with friends and family, and travel when I get a chance.

It is a honor and privilege to be a part of your child's education team.  Please consider this my invitation to parents and grandparents to visit our library to become familiar with our many digital and print resources available to your children.  I also welcome phone calls and emails.  My door is always open.
Happy Reading,
Ms. Smith
